DIY Toner

The usual routine of a person to achieve a healthier looking skin is to Cleanse-Tone-Moisturize. In the past, I used to spend money trying out different brands of toner because like what I have mentioned in the other post, I do not have perfect skin.

I have tried witch haze extract toner and it worked well for my skin type. The thing is, I am looking for cheaper alternatives which would also deliver the same effect. I also bought another brand of toner in Amazon which also did well and prevent me from getting breakouts worse but still, it costs a few bucks.

Good thing, I discovered dissolving apple cider vinegar with water and used it as toner. Considering that I have been a loyal user of ACV, I also mixed it with water and apply it as toner. I can say, that ACV is truly a universal product that can be used in so many ways.

Brands of ACV I have tried would be Bragg’s, Heinz and American Garden. Bragg is quite expensive because it comes With The Mother. Thus, I only used it for oral consumption. For my vanity use, I am good to go with American Garden brand. It is among the cheapest one you can find in the market.

Have you also tried and proven the wonders of using ACV? Share some thoughts.

Foodie

We all love food. We are lucky that in today’s modern world, almost any craving that our taste bud would like is very accessible around. In fact, food can also be ordered online. When you are being thrifty (like me), what you can do is to make your own version of the food that you crave for. Here is an example:

I am not a photographer so pardon me if you cannot distinguish what that is. It is my home made chicken mac n cheese. I used the very basic ingredients found at the kitchen to make that. What I used:

  • Oil
  • Onion and garlic
  • Pepper
  • Chicken breast(cut into small bits)
  • Cheese spread(chiz whiz or other brand will do)
  • Evaporated milk
  • Butter
  • Macaroni noodles (cooked)

Since I already used butter, the amount of oil is very little to saute onion and garlic. After sauteing, I added the chicken strips and add the butter. Once done, you can add the milk(sorry unsure of the measurement). Once it boils, you can add the cooked macaroni and add the cheese. Pepper is optional. If your kids do not prefer it, you can eliminate it from the list.

We enjoyed it without having to spend that much if we have chosen to eat out.

What I do

This is not the first that that I attempted to maintain a blog. I even purchased an actual website before, not just once but two times. These were attempts to uplift my status of being a WAHM (Work at home Mom)/freelance writer/virtual assistant.

Since I stopped working in an actual office when I got pregnant way back in Dec 2008, I started to look for alternative ways to earn money. My husband is a good provider but it is still better to have my own earnings.

I was exposed to various online money making systems like PPC or pay per click which I did to earn $2 in one month. Gosh! I did that when I was still pregnant. There are also other money making systems like paid surveys, online selling and more.

Then one time, I learned about KGB. This is a legitimate work from home job based here in the Philippines. I worked as a Special Text Agent. The scope of work is pretty simple and basic as all I need to do is to log in to their database and wait for text messages to come in and reply. The thing is, if you want to earn more, you need to wake up early like 3 am. The salary is just right for a less than 40h job without leaving the house. Back then (2009), I earned about 7K each month less all the other charges.

Being with KGB worked well for me for a couple of months. Then, one time, I got introduced to try Odesk, now Upwork. It is a freelance marketplace for freelancers and business owners looking for workers. I started a job that pays $1 per hour. So, for someone who gets paid for 7k/month, about P43-P45/hour sounds better. Since March 2010 until today, I am connected with Upwork.

The process is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is to apply/bid for a project and prove yourself to the employee. It is hard to find an employer when you are only starting out to establish your profile but with hard work and persistence, you can win your first job.

Skin Condition

For the past few years, I can say that I suffered from acne breakouts. It started when I started having my period. I am already 32 now and you can imagine how long I have been battling with acne.

I used to believe in whatever products I saw on TV without checking its ingredients. Good thing, the world has transformed in a much better place to live that we now have quick access to the net.

With theΒ online access, I was able to make research first before purchasing any skin care product. I was also able to get additional information to help calm my breakouts.

I have tried so many products in the past few years. Common brands like Neutrogena, Celeteque, St. Ives, Nivea, Pond’s, St. Dalfour and others. My skin used to behave using Neutrogena hard soap made for acne prone. But it can truly be true when they say that with frequent and prolong usage, the skin would get immune to it. Hence, it is best to use different brands every now and then.

Currently, I am using an organic soap found in instagram. The brand is Natura Organics. The brand promises better looking skin without having to worry from harsh chemicals. In fact, their products are even safe for kids.

Β

I alternate the use of the whitening soap variant and Ayurveda science soap. When I have breakouts, I even make use of Pond’s Acne Clear.

Overall, I cannot say that I am free from breakouts because when my period gets near, I will surely have the ugly bumps in my face.
